With Multi-Scan (alpha), several scanners on one computer fill one shared batch. Currently up to 2 scan folders work, for example 2 scanners. Choose it when you want to split one lot of cards across several scanners.
Set it up
- Under Scans, choose the source Watch scanner folder.
- Under Scanners on this computer, choose Multi-Scan and a separate folder for each scanner.
- Set Front only or Both sides for each scanner.
- Click Start batch & watch folders.
The two folders must be different and must not sit inside each other, otherwise cards would be counted twice. Choose Both sides for a scanner that saves front and back. Why the back is worth it is explained in “Your first scan”. Back first applies to both scanners together.
Scanner and position
Every card carries a tag like 2 · 37: the 37th card that went through scanner 2. That’s how you find it in the physical stack. What each scanner is doing right now is shown on the left in the sidebar.
Review and finish
- One Review button takes you through the open cards of both scanners.
- You finish the batch once. Both stacks go into the same files and listings.
Storage locations
With Chaos Sorting, Actana first numbers all cards from scanner 1, and scanner 2 continues right after. So put away stack 1 first, then stack 2. When you finish, you see both ranges.
Discarding and adding cards
- If you discard a card with Chaos Sorting on, Actana names the stack and position. If it’s still there, take it out, otherwise the storage locations behind it shift.
- With Add card, choose the stack under Onto stack. The card goes to the end, so put it at the very back of the physical stack too.
Good to know
- Multi-Scan is an alpha feature and not a guaranteed part of the plan. You find it in Plus and Pro.
- Speed depends on your computer’s performance.
- Finding cards and reading text run on your computer. If “identifying” keeps growing, pause one scanner on the device for a moment.
- If a folder can’t be reached, the other scanner keeps going. Once the folder is back, Actana picks up there on its own. If it’s gone completely, choose it again.
