For your first scan you need scan images of your cards, ideally from a document scanner.
Start a batch
- Open Scan & sell and choose game, language and condition under Cards.
- For your very first batch, click Confirm game and card language once.
- Under Scans, pick a source: Choose images for existing images or Watch scanner folder for continuous scanning.
- Click Start batch & choose images or Start batch & choose folder.
When Actana watches a folder, new images join the batch on their own. Images already in the folder when you start are skipped. In a running batch you can also drag images onto the stack.
Front and back
Under Sides per card, choose Front and back if your scanner reads both sides. Every two files then make one card:
- Only the front is identified. Backs don’t land in review as cards of their own.
- With your own photos, your eBay and Shopify listings show the front and back of your real card first, then the stock image. More in “Your own photos for listings”.
Without your own photos, the back stays on your computer.
If your scanner saves the back first, open Batch settings after starting and turn on Back first. It applies to all following pairs.
Turn off blank-page removal in your scanner, otherwise backs go missing and the pairing shifts.
A good scan
- 300 to 400 dpi on a document scanner is enough, more doesn’t help.
- What matters is even lighting and readable card text.
- The card doesn’t need to fill the image. Actana finds and crops it.
- Sleeves are fine, only strong glare gets in the way.
Good to know
- After the first scan, profile, scan source and Sides per card are locked for the batch. From then on you can only switch game and language through the notice in the batch, when Actana recognizes a different game or language. You can change the export targets until you finish.
- Save the game, language and condition you use often as a scan profile with New profile.
